The Big Apple Crunch is straightforward. Each year, on or around October 24, participants from across the state are invited to take a bite out of an apple grown in New York. The program began in 2012 as a partnership between nonprofit group GrowNYC and the NYC Office of Food Policy, and has only grown from there. Hundreds of thousands of students at schools and college campuses statewide now join in every year. Last year, we saw over 2.3 million New Yorkers participate!
