POSTED ON OCTOBER 22, 2013 BY NEW YORK SMASH THE FERRARI CLUB CRUISES THROUGH HUDSON VALLEY FARMLAND FOR A CAUSE The Ferrari Club parked at Hillrock Estate Distillery in the Hudson Valley Amidst a picturesque autumn landscape in the Hudson Valley, a fleet of Ferraris cruised through the area’s beautiful foliage and sprawling farmland on Oct. 20. During their weekend driving event, the Ferrari Club of America’s Hudson Valley Chapter made a couple of memorable stops along the way: Hillrock Estate Distillery, a producer of fine whiskey, and Twin Maple Farm, which specializes in artisan cheeses. The event, called Farms and Ferraris, benefited the FarmOn! Foundation, an organization that spreads awareness about where food is made and how to make educated decisions about what we eat, and Camp FarmOn!, which educates Hudson Valley students about careers in the local food system and the entrepreneurial spirit needed to create viable business solutions for local, artisanal farms and keep the region’s rich culinary history alive for future generations. “It was a beautiful fall day and they experienced first-hand the creamery on the farm,” said Tessa Edick, founder of FarmOn! Foundation. “We had a pig roast with a pig raised just down the block. We went to the Hill Rock distillery for a taste and tour. The members of the Ferrari Club were blown away – they’re already planning another trip.” About 25 Ferraris, both antique and new, made their way to the event, according to Edick. At Twin Maple Farm, club members sat down for a tasty lunch made with fresh local ingredients, including platters of Hudson Valley truffle and cheeses, salad with sliced locally-grown apple as well as roasted chicken and farm vegetables, catered by Café Le Perche. The event successfully raised funds and spread the word for the FarmOn! Foundation cause. According to Edick, “It was incredible.”
