CHEF TO FARM
Custom growing for chefs and the culinary industry is teaching kids how to make a living in their field as classroom at Empire Farm. The FarmOn! Accelerator curriculum is based on a chef to farm contract growing program. Chefs commit seed money to procure organic vegetables (organic greens, fruits, roots, alliums, grain and corn) from our student run organic farm. Students manages chef, restaurants and clients purchase orders from manufacturing on the farm to distribution in new york city. They oversee production, packaging, pack out, GAP and NOFA best practices, budget, invoicing, sales, customer service, inventory and follow up with chefs as “their” clients in Empire Farm’s simulated small business in-residence program for students.
