If You Ate Today, Thank A Farmer

Our Hudson Valley foundation offers hands-on farming education for kids. We believe in the importance of teaching children about agriculture and its impact on our world.

Milk Money Program

Through our partnership with Hudson Valley Fresh Dairy, and with the generous support of our donors, we are able to supply schools with fresh, quality milk at a subsidized price of only five cents per carton. So far, we have been able to provide nutrient-rich Hudson Valley milk to over 25,000 students spread across a dozen different school districts.

The milk provided to students through our Milk Money program goes from “Cow-to-kid” in 36 hours. In other words, it is produced, transported, and consumed all in one area code.

Camp FarmOn!

Camp FarmOn! is an Entrepreneurial Agriculture Youth Initiative as a summer learning opportunity for youth residing in the Hudson Valley Region and nearby communities. This innovative summer enrichment camp is a hands-on learning model blending the format of the popular television show, “Shark Tank,” with summer camp to foster the entrepreneurial spirit for youth in agriculture.

This hands-on learning experience for youth is a day camp run on our youth education farm. Students apply to attend FREE OF CHARGE thanks for FarmOn! Foundation fundraising efforts.

Corporate Retreats & Events

FarmOn hosts many events and retreats throughout the year. The FarmOn grounds and associated activities make for an excellent “Day of Purpose” for corporate teams. Take part in planting, harvesting, tasting, cooking, or simply enjoying the farm ambiance and many outdoor areas for meetings and trainings. Socialize around our giant fire pit, incorporate afternoon yoga.

Utilizing the farm grounds for networking events and other private corporate events in another way to not only offer your guests a unique experience, but the FarmOn’s educational programs at the same time. All fees are tax deductible.

CSA Program

Every year, FarmOn! hosts a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program to provide a weekly variety of organic products grown on our farm to CSA participants. Items consist of a seasonal mix of FarmOn grown vegetables, herbs, flowers and eggs, in addition to locally sourced honey, jams and other seasonally available treats. The CSA program is instrumental to Camp FarmOn!, as it not only serves as a source of program funding, but it’s a hands-on way to teach the business of farming to kids. Camp attendees participate in preparing harvested goods for sale through the CSA, Farm Store & local Farmer’s Markets.

FarmOn! Foundation

FOOD EDUCATION THROUGH FARM PRESERVATION

FarmOn! Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, is working to fill the succession gap on family farms in rural America. Rapid changes in rural economies have transformed the agricultural sector. Increasingly, independent and family-run farms are being left with nobody to run them, as young people continue to migrate to urban centers in larger and larger numbers. FarmOn! wants to be part of the solution. We create and fund educational programs to provide the next generation of farmers with the skills and experience necessary to ensure that they can continue to feed us sustainably, ethically, and profitably.

We believe that, by nurturing and inspiring the entrepreneurial spirit of young people, we have the potential to revive rural economies nationwide. It is our goal to provide a replicable model for conscious food production and distribution that we can then export to communities around the country.

We envision a world where sustainable agriculture is valued and profitable. We invite you to learn more and get involved with your friends and family by taking action. Every child should serve on a farm! Start the conversation with us @FarmOnFarmOn or visit us at Empire Farm anytime of the year.

FarmOn! Foundation is dedicated to bringing awareness to food choices and sources and reinvigorating respect for farming, inspiring young people to choose agricultural careers to create an economic engine connecting rural and urban marketplaces to rebuild a robust and resilient agricultural community and local economies for rural prosperity and succession on farms.
