Google Starmer

Google’s Farm to Table Community is partnering with FarmOn! Foundation to get our farmers online in order to drive rural prosperity by facilitating economic development. Reach out to Vanessa Bazalgette (vanessabaz@google.com) to sign-up to volunteer, etc.

WHAT IS Google’s NYC Farm to Table Group?

Google’s NYC Farm to Table community is a global, cross-campus network of Google employees who are dedicated to supporting sustainability in our food system. Our focus areas are in service, education, and connections.

WHAT ARE we partnering to do?

Four out of five people search for local businesses online. The search term ‘Farm to Table’ has grown nearly 5x in the past 5 years. A challenge today is that many upstate farms do not currently have business listings on Google search, making their local ingredients harder to find. Our goal is to close this technology gap to drive rural prosperity by facilitating economic development. You can find the links to our Copake, NY events and the NYC by emailing Vanessa Bazalgette (vanessabaz@google.com).

WHAT’S NEXT?

  1. Primary Goal: Our primary initiative will be to get 300+ NY farmers on Google My Business – bringing the “Starmer” (farmers – the real star of food) into focus.
  2. Participate in the Conversation: Post #Starmer photos (check out the current ones on Instagram!), loop in influencers who you know in this space, communicate our initiatives to bring economic development to rural areas, reach out to Vanessa to sign-up to volunteer, etc.
  3. Invite and Follow-up: Invite and follow-up with any star farmers (Starmers) that would be interested in this initiative. You can find the links to our Copake, NY event here and the NYC event here!
